Oxford Street is a globally recognised destination and a major driver of London’s economy, contributing an estimated £25bn in 2022.

This project will re-invent Oxford Street, working with businesses and local councils to create one of the finest public spaces in the world. Located in the heart of London’s West End, the area benefits from an unrivalled concentration of retail, the arts, hospitality, entertainment and employment.

The newly established Oxford Street Development Corporation will provide long-term leadership, coordinate delivery and accelerate public– private investment.

Key Facts

• Excellent transport links, including the Elizabeth line and multiple Underground stations, welcoming around 120 million visitors annually, with 85% arriving by public transport.
• Public realm and greening improvements could boost output by £82m a year, supporting 780+ jobs and £40m in VAT receipts.
• Aims to rival global destinations like Times Square and Champs-Élysées, attracting investment and visitors.
