Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus and Haymarket are set for a once-in-a-generation transformation through the partnership between Westminster City Council and The Crown Estate.
The proposals will create a greener, more climate-resilient route between Regent’s Park and St James’s Park, transforming streets and public spaces and strengthening the West End’s position as a globally recognised destination for investment, business, tourism, culture, retail and leisure.
- Enhanced public spaces for the 70 million people who visit the West End each year.
- A twenty-fold increase in green cover, including 400 new trees, helping to reduce local temperatures by up to 5°C.
- Enabling an additional 14,000 daily walking and cycling trips, supported by public seating every 50 metres and designed to increase dwell time
